Young people with disabilities in foster family

The thesis presents the results of research focused on young, disabled people who grew up in foster families. The aim of the research is to observe the lives of these people from their own perspective and to map their life experience. The research is focused on problem areas of their lives and barriers that prevent them from achieving certain goals. Children in Foster Care in the learning Process

Theme of bachelor thesis is children in foster care in the learning process. The bachelor thesis aims to describe specific expressions of children in foster care of preschool and school age, their perception of authority and interaction with the teacher and classmates. The theoretical part is based on the study of literature, trying to map the early development of children in foster care, the importance of family, its failures, institutional care and its consequences, alternative forms of family care and school environment. The empirical part is qualitatively focused, dealing with foster parents and teachers looking at the issue of children in foster care in the school environment. The data collection was carried out during semi- structured interviews with four foster families and classroom teachers with four children, and participant observation of children in the school environment was conducted. The results of the study suggest that children in foster care often have a school characteristic signs and symptoms, which may be caused by insufficient emotional background in early childhood or emotional deprivation. Cooperation between family and school and awareness of the child's history for teachers are solutions to this problem.
Foster care for temporary period

Intention of this bachelor thesis is to raise awareness of short term foster care in the Czech Republic, particularly by looking in to the structure of its system. As the title states, aim of the thesis is to study and record the entire course of short term foster care process, that starts when a child comes into a foster family and ends when the child is taken by adoptive or biological family. The research survey is mainly focused on the process when a child is coming to a foster family: on building relationships between a child and a family, mutual visits of two concerned families (their duration and form), creating emotional ties and child's psychological adaptation to ongoing changes and new conditions. In the survey, semi-structured interviews with foster parents are used. Gathered information were transformed into case studies, each of these cases was analyzed and evaluated separately.
Long term foster-care and the temporary one - psychological aspects of the foster-parent view and child's view.

This thesis primarily deals with foster care. The readers are acquainted with the basic informations from the topic. Further on it deals with the issue of creating connections with foster parents. It points out differences and permanency of the realionship between the long term foster care and the temporary foster care. It outlines the specifics of psychological aspects in both forms of foster care on the side of the child and the foster parent himself. In the second part the qualitative proposal of research is submitted which is focused on children's experience with the foster care. It is trying to point out subjective view of children in their positive and negative form, due to the foster care, emotional anchoring in foster family and last but not least the children's view of transitions between families and problems connected to it. One of the outcomes of this research is to create hypotheses which will be used as a support for next research projects. Foster family in view of biological children

The diploma thesis is concerned with the long-term foster care; particularly with the experience of foster carer's own children. It provides knowledge of the alternative care system in the Czech Republic and the particularities of foster families. It describes how own children of foster carers experience the period of time before their foster sibling's arrival, what are their feelings and reactions after the arrival, how their positions in the family change, how their relationships are formed and how they perceive their parent's decision retrospectively. The theoretical part is followed by empirical part which is composed of quantitative and qualitative research. The results of quantitative research introduce the experience of biological children and create a basic idea of the situations in foster families. The conclusions of the qualitative research are then an addition of the quantitative part and help to a better imagination of the life in foster families. This thesis should contribute to foster care applicants, their children and specialists who work with foster families. The Position of Profesional Foster-mather in The SOS Children's Villages

This dissertation deals with the position of foster-mother in SOS children's villages. The first part focuses on the legislative background of the operation of these facilities for foster care in the context of the development organization SOS Children's Villages in the Czech Republic and the international organization SOS Kinderdorf International. It discusses the problem of Czech SOS Children's Villages, when foster-mother is responsible for the child entrusted to foster care, which is the difference from the Czech villages than villages in the other countries. The second part analyzes the role of the SOS foster-mother. It offers a reflection on the meaning of the concept of the archetypal mother and changes of maternal role. The dissertation maps a question of motivation and readiness for fostering.Step by step are described SOS foster-mothers's career stages and are development cycles of SOS families. The work deals with the controversial topic, such as support for an SOS foster-mother. It introduces the concept of an integrated following educational community youth, boarding facilities for teenagers and young adults from the SOS villages.
